Four categories of players

Based on these types of players and betting styles there are generally four categories of players that have emerged. The Loose passive players are the ones who will call out any bet if they think they have a remote chance of winning. They will not Raise even if they have a strong hand but will not also Fold quickly with a weak hand. The Loose aggressive ones will raise even with not so strong hands. Their game can be irrational and inconsistent. You can make profit against them in a heads up win. They can turn to be expensive players to play against as one is required to make Raises. Then there are tight passive players which are also called the ‘Rocks’. These players will play very few hands and if he is calling raise, then that means he has the best hand. If a player plays tight- passive game, he may not loose much money. A tight-aggressive player like the tight passive player will play few hands but will use their
aggression selectively. When he calls a raise it may be because he has a strong hand or he might be bluffing. He can ‘slow play’ with good hands to trap opponents who have weaker hands into betting later in the round. Mostly these tight aggressive players are not to be found at low limit games but these can be winners.
